Presented here is Greg’s BS-SSS classic maple neck Strat with cherry sunburst finish, vintage “bent saddle” tremolo and 22 fret maple capped neck.
Fender used necks with a separate maple fingerboard and no skunk stripe only for a couple of years in the 60’s, mostly in ’67 and ’68. These necks do have a different tone (famously preferred by Hendrix). So Greg has essentially put together the sought after late 60’s maple capped neck with a modern flatter fingerboard radius for speed and clean bending, medium jumbo frets plus he’s added that handy extra 22nd fret.

Just bought a Greg Branson cherry sunburst Strat a couple of weeks ago. After living with it for a bit I will say that I am overall very pleased. Fit and finish excellent. Cherry sunburst finish flawless as is the vintage gloss tint maple neck. The laminated fingerboard has 22 frets which is important to me. Sound is what you expect from a Strat in all five positions. Clear chime overall and great Knopfler-esque tones in the in between 2 and 4 positions. No rough fret edges. Nice and smooth when you run your hand up and down the neck. Looks like a Strat, plays like a Strat, sounds like a Strat, feels like a Strat. After I performed a set up and I have it where I want it, I really grab, play, and then marvel at all the goodness this guitar has to offer. Does not feel like a Strat wannabe by any stretch. Feels like the real deal and IMHO would easily pass the blindfold test. Sure it is also a great platform for upgrades like pickups, tuners, and perhaps a graph tech or bone nut, but as is the guitar is just fine! At $229.00, no tax, free shipping complete with a guitar cord, nice quality strap and gigbag this guitar is a steal and any fence sitters should go get one while you can. These are sweet guitars!
